A secure ballot container is not required for all drop boxes. If a secure ballot container is used inside a drop box, ballots are deposited directly into that container. “Secure ballot container” shall mean a lockable and secure container that is placed inside a drop box or is a stand-alone container.“Designated ballot retrievers” shall mean authorized county employees, representatives, poll workers, or vote center workers, authorized by the elections official to retrieve ballots from drop boxes, or temporary workers or volunteers retained and authorized by the elections official to retrieve ballots from drop boxes.Note: Authority cited: Section 12172.5, Government Code and Sections, Elections Code.
